Independent College Advisor
“my college whisperer”
When I retired from a twenty-year career in school counseling and education administration, I knew I would miss working with teens and families. I embarked on an entrepreneurial endeavor as an independent educational consultant providing customized support to college-bound high schoolers. In this role, I tap into my vast experience to assist clients in all facets of the college application process. My services include preparing the Common Application, coaching the college essay, and advising on financial aid. My goal is to help each client find the best college experience.
Affectionately dubbed ‘the College Whisperer’ by my students, I am skilled in motivating kids who become overwhelmed by the college application process. By dispelling fear and breaking down the steps, kids find applying to college accessible and even fun.

Writer and Blogger
In 2017, I created “Mami Knows Everything”–a lifestyle and opinion blog (mamiknowseverything.com). Since that time, I have published essays in magazines and online journals (see “Publications” link above). I have been fortunate to have studied writing craft with a number of esteemed authors and writers at GrubStreet, Boston’s premiere writing center. As a student in both the Memoir Generator and Incubator, I have hammered away at a memoir I hope to publish in the future.
